Nolen Sellwood came to The Villa, the studio run by New Folk veteran John Wright asking if he could record a few original songs. When john asked him who his influences were, he replied. Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake. Not bad for a 17 year old who had only been playing guitar 3 years. And with that John recorded his first album, Otherwise, which New Folk released and to no surprise, received critical acclaim. Nolen has since gone away to college and continued to write new music and learn to play the mandolin and the banjo. Now working again with John Wright and Steve Lehto, Nolen has recorded his second album, Cadence to the Flame. The album reflects his musical and lyrical growth and will surely please anyone who loves good folk music
